Welcome to the site for the Kalinga Wooloowin Residents Association (KWRA).
The KWRA has taken up the task of representing all residents impacted by the Airport Link Project. The KWRA is now a vibrant and active group with a footprint covering the entire Airport Link Project. Our committee is headed up by Community representatives from all the major Airport Link sites including Bowen Hills, Toombul, Kedron, Lutwyche, Windsor and Wooloowin. If you want to join us and/or contribute to our efforts we urge you to please contact us. |
The KWRA has lodged an application with the Department of Environment and Resource Management to have Kalinga reinstated as a suburb. This application has been made in response to KWRA members' requests and is currently being assessed by the department.
Should it be progressed, the community will be approached for feedback. The proposed boundaries mirror Kalinga's original boundaries: Rose Street / Junction Road to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Kedron Brook to the north and west. For practical purposes, it is also proposed that the suburb of Kalinga include Kalinga Park in its entirety.
The application has the support of local and state political representatives and many residents have signed letters requesting the reinstatement. Should anyone wish to write a letter of support, please download the attached document which has been drafted to meet the department’s requirements. With thanks in anticipation of your support.
Application details can be found here.
